Vehicles have different belts that keep several systems functioning. Some vehicles only have one belt, while others may have two or three. These belts run the power steering, a/c compressor, alternator, and on some vehicles the cooling fan. That’s why a driver should have these belts inspected during oil changes or vehicle service intervals. This would identify any frayed or damaged belts that need replacement prior to a malfunction. These parts are exposed to extreme heat and cold, which stretches the belts out over time. Belts are usually replaced on scheduled service intervals; however, this does change if it has dry rot, rips, stretched, or slipping. Here at DitY Auto Repair our staff can assist you on servicing the belt or changing it out yourself. Remember preventive maintenance can save you a lot of time and money by avoiding unexpected break downs. This week’s tips from your team at DitY Auto Repair have a safe and fun summer.
