Fall is approaching and there are several things you can do to keep your vehicle running well. Vehicle owners should complete an engine tune-up prior to winter if the vehicle is due for it. The vehicle brakes should be inspected during the tune-up and repaired if un-serviceable. An oil change should be done as part of the tune-up along with adding engine/fuel additives for higher mileage vehicles. An overall vehicle inspection should be completed in order to find any defects with battery, tires, electrical components, etc. This can all be done at DitY Auto Repair, where you can choose to rent one of our bays and do the work yourself. DitY Auto Repair also gives you the option to have our professional ASE mechanics work on the vehicle for you. Vehicles have different belts that keep several systems functioning. Some vehicles only have one belt, while others may have two or three. These belts run the power steering, a/c compressor, alternator, and on some vehicles the cooling fan. That’s why a driver should have these belts inspected during oil changes or vehicle service intervals. This would identify any frayed or damaged belts that need replacement prior to a malfunction. These parts are exposed to extreme heat and cold, which stretches the belts out over time. Belts are usually replaced on scheduled service intervals; however, this does change if it has dry rot, rips, stretched, or slipping. Here at DitY Auto Repair our staff can assist you on servicing the belt or changing it out yourself. Remember preventive maintenance can save you a lot of time and money by avoiding unexpected break downs. This week’s tips from your team at DitY Auto Repair have a safe and fun summer.

Many drivers that run over debris are unaware of damage that occurs while driving. They may hit debris on the roadways unintentionally and not notice how the vehicle was affected. Even if the damage is not immediately noticeable it will eventually surface. This may show up as a leak, which is not due to faulty gasket or worn seal. Instead it has been caused by external damage to the oil pan assembly or radiator. The leak may be major or minor; however, it should be addressed before more engine components become affected. Both the radiator and engine oil pan are parts that assist in keeping the vehicle running at cool temperatures. If any of these parts are left unattended once damaged it can lead to the engine overheating and leaving you stranded. Here at DitY Auto Repair we can inspect your vehicle to verify if any damage has occurred. Avoid costly repairs and unexpected breakdowns by having your vehicle properly inspected after an accident. A vehicles headlamps and tail lights are its only visual marker to signal others drivers. They also provide lighting for low or no ambient light during the evening, rain storms, snow storms, and night time driving. If a head or tail light bulb burns out during any of those conditions it creates a visual burden for the driver, other cars on the road, and pedestrians. In most vehicles installation of the bulbs may be easy. Begin by unplugging the electrical connector from the back of the head or tail lamp. This is usually done by unscrewing or twisting the connector off. Remove the old bulb and install the new bulb. Put everything back together in reverse order.  Note: Do not touch the new bulb glass housing with bare fingers or hands. Oils on these body parts will burn out the bulbs. This can occur even if you wash your hands, so be sure to wear latex or plastic gloves when handling the new bulb. This week’s tip for the summer driving season from the Team at DitY Auto Repair have a safe and fun summer.
